Dark, dramatic, and beautifully moody, Black Hero is one of those tulips that hardly feels like spring. Its densely layered, double blooms open in deep wine, blackened plum, and velvety burgundy tones—appearing nearly black in certain light.

Blooming in late spring, Black Hero brings depth and contrast to a season usually filled with softer colors. The peony-like blooms are full and textural, held on sturdy stems that make them beautiful both in the garden and cut for arrangements. As they open, flashes of deep burgundy become more visible between the petals, giving the flowers dimension rather than reading as a flat, solid black.
